Epson Toner
The latest AcuLaser toner particles contain smaller pieces of wax. This makes the toner particles melt evenly on the paper during the printing process, resulting in a high quality, gloss finish. Because the particles fuse at low temperatures, warm-up time is cut and the printer is more energy-efficient.
Epson were one of the early adopters of colour laser toner technology and for years the Epson AcuLaser C900 was the printer to aspire to. C900 toner comes in four individual cartridges, black, cyan, magenta and yellow that rotate around a central Photoconductor unit, laying down one colour of print at a time. This technique is still used in current machines like the AcuLaser C1100 and C1100 toner is also used in multi-function laser printers like the AcuLaser CX11N.
Many new printers are supplied with low capacity toner cartridges fitted and it is advisable when replacing this cartridge to opt for a high yield cartridge, although this will incur a greater initial cost, it will lead to a lower cost per print. Epson mono laser printers have also traditionally used a separate toner and drum unit, however the latest Epson AcuLaser M2000 series use a one-piece toner cartridge where the OPC is replaced as an integral part of the cartridge. With this cartridge Epson have followed Lexmark's lead of introducing Return cartridges, a reduced price is offered on the understanding that the cartridge is returned to Epson at the end of its life. This is done to ensure that remanufacturers are denied a supply of empty cartridges and we view this as a restriction to trade and do not agree with the concept, however as these cartridges are cheaper for our customers, we offer them for sale and leave the decision to you as to the fate of the empty cartridge.
