Epson Aculaser M1200 Review

Personal laser printers currently have the advantage of simpleness as well as modest over all size. Should you only need to print correspondence and your principal interest is superior text print, a small laser such as Epson's Aculaser M1200 can save lots of money over an inkjet printer of equivalent speed.

Visualize a big bread loaf and you will have the design of the M1200, even though it's double the size. All in textured black, aside from the fold-up output tray, which is actually a kind of smoked olive colour, the printer has very simple, practical lines.

A 150-sheet input tray folds down out of its front and there is no paper cover provided, so you'll likely wish to remove and store paper whenever not actually printing. With the two paper trays open, the printer will not look as neat, nonetheless it still has a more compact footprint when compared with similar models with more traditional tray designs.

There is no control panel in the machine, merely a couple of large LEDs which signify jammed paper, covers open, power and also print data being acquired. Due to the simplicity of the items the printer's being expected to do, those two indicators are satisfactory.

In case of a paper jam - even though we witnessed none during screening - there is a hinged cover at the very top, above the fuser as well as another in the front designed for cartridge access. At the back are sockets meant for USB and also parallel ports, although the machine doesn't have network connection.

Physical setup is straightforward, because the machine uses a two-part drum and toner cartridge, with the toner hopper clipping to the back of the drum. Supplied as a single part, it slides easily directly into position at the rear of the front panel cover.

Software set up is almost as easy also drivers for Windows and also OS X are supplied.

The caliber of prints when using the Epson Aculaser M1200 printer toner cartridges is actually very good. Although the native resolution is just 600dpi, there was in fact no sign of jagged edges to curves or diagonals and also no visible spatter of toner in areas it shouldn't be.

Greyscales are generally a little bit uneven, though there are sufficient distinct tones to render a number of colours in the greyscale equivalents. This ensures that our test photograph showed up pretty clearly. Despite the fact that dither patterns tend to be obvious, the printer still was able to give reasonable fine detail in both full-light and also shadowed parts of the photo aided by the Epson Aculaser M1200 toner cartridges.

There are two costs to think about in running the Aculaser M1200: toner and photoconductor. Epson Aculaser M1200 printer cartridges can be found in two sizes as well as in regular along with Return Programme versions. Return Programme cartridges are substantially cheaper and you could feel smug that you are doing something for the environment, also.

The Aculaser M1200 is a fine, basic mono laser printer, that prints smartly in both the speed and quality senses of the word. Given the extremely low price, it's tough to find a great deal to hold against it. Probably the single obvious problem is the lack of a cover for its paper input tray. Truly this is not going to be a concern, however, if you're satisfied to store the paper between prints.
